Mark Vogel
Artistic Director, Conductor, Pianist

Since arriving in Houston in 2014, Mark Vogel has quickly established himself in this city's vibrant musical culture. In 2016, he was named Artistic Director of International Voices Houston, a 140-voice multicultural community choir. He also is Music Director at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston in the Museum District, and Music Director at Congregation Beth Israel. He is also adjunct Choir Director at Lone Star College - University Park. 

In 2014, Mark Vogel relocated from Washington, DC, where for nine years, he was an active music director and pianist, performing at such venues as the Kennedy Center, Strathmore Concert Hall, National Cathedral, Wolf Trap Performing Arts Center, and the Library of Congress. He has performed with ensembles including Washington Master Chorale, the Fairfax Chamber Ensemble, Washington Men's Camerata, Aurora Opera, the Washington Ballet Orchestra, the Army Chorus, Woodley Ensemble, Vienna Choral Society, and more. From 2007 to 2014, he was Director of Music & Arts at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax in Oakton, VA. 


Mark Vogel's passion for performing is equaled only by his love of teaching. In the Spring of 2016, he taught at Lone Star College-North Harris as Interim Director of Choirs and Professor of Music, and has continued at Lone Star College-University Park as Concert Choir Director since 2019. Other recent teaching positions include the Kinkaid School and St. Pius X High School. As an educator, he has also taught a studio of piano students, coached vocalists, taught courses, led workshops and given lectures. His extensive musical training includes a Master's Degree in piano performance from Manhattan School of Music studying with Ruth Laredo, and a Bachelor's Degree in piano performance from the University of Iowa studying with Rene Lecuona.
